DAWN'S STORY
Dawn Mathisen lives in Southwest Florida and is a single Mom to one son, Trevor, who she refers to as her "Candle Assistant" and the wind beneath her wings.
Dawn worked in Corporate America for many years. Following her college years she worked as a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson for 2 Century 21 franchises before going to work for a national title insurance underwriter. She began her position there as Marketing Director and left the company after several years and working her way up to Assistant Vice President. She facilitated the marketing in four target Southwest Florida communities and during her time at the firm they developed business and opened three satellite, full service title insurance offices. Dawn was involved heavily in networking and her many honors included Affiliate of the Year for the Mortgage Banker's Industry of Southwest Florida in both 1990 and 1991 where she was chosen from a host of others who were affiliated with the Mortgage Banking industry along the Southwest Florida Gulf Coast from Sarasota to Naples.
Dawn also is a former Jaycee and held several offices in her local chapter including President for 4 years. She also is a regional recipient of a Brownfield Award. Additionally, she and has been affiliated with many civic, community and business networking organizations. She is presently an active member of The Bridge Networking and the National Association of Professional Women. She also is City Leader and Director of Operations for a national Mom's networking site. She has a passion for charity work and fundraising as well.
Dawn found a niche in the travel industry after leaving the title company. She worked for a Lehigh Acres travel agency until such time as she became President/Owner and Managing Partner in Travelink International Inc. The company not only booked airline tickets, cruises and hotels but sponsored many fun day trips for locals and visiting tourists. She was the Office Manager and not only serviced her own clientele but managed 12 inside and outside travel professionals. With a shift in the travel industry the agency closed in 1998 due to commission cuts by both the airline and cruise industries. Dawn still has an avid love for travel.
After the agency's closing, she worked for a short time in Retail and then worked in the utilities industry until her son became a toddler. Dawn often describes herself as a "jack of all trades" when it came to careers. She had a passion for working with people and loved marketing, networking and social interaction. She always felt the desire to be her own boss and while she enjoyed the jobs she had was looking for "something more".
Over the years Dawn was involved with several direct sales and network marketing companies. She enjoyed some success with them but as she puts it "Never had that total passion 100%". Many of the companies had quotas or were in some way restrictive to achieving what she really wanted. She considers those experiences stepping stones to her present lifestyle and business.
Motherhood changed many things for Dawn, especially the desire to have more than just a J-O-B. She wanted to make a difference in her life as well as other's lives while still making a living and creating a lifestyle for her and her then young son.
Dawn made a move in 2003 from Corporate America to teaching in the Head Start Program. Working with the children was fun and very rewarding for her. But again, she found herself looking at the possibilities of being her own boss when finances made it necessary to have a part time job that still kept her away from her son.
Everything changed the day Dawn discovered her present company. A self-admitted candle-holic, she found the perfect fit in her present company. The products were incredible and the company and it's compensation plan offered everything that the prior companies she was with lacked in her eyes.
Today, Dawn is a full time Work At Home Mom with her business. She loves what she does and the opportunity to share both the products and the business opportunity with others. She sees the future as very bright as her company is now entering the Mineral Makeup industry as well.
